Motorists travelling the nearby Liege - Aachen motorway between the denser urban centres will be surprised to discover how conveniently they can access this peaceful, green region, close to the Hautes Fagnes and the Gileppe reservoir.
Situated between the “Pays de Herve” and the Ardenne massif, our villages, each with its own distinct character, are worth breaking your journey for.
The banks of the Vesdre are still abundantly green and romantic.
This harmonious blend of water and forests formerly caught the fancy of the author Victor Hugo, who referred to our valley as “the most enchanting in the world”.
The unique charm of our villages, and of the beautiful old fortified town of Limbourg, makes them well worth a visit.
Water, which has for so long defined the economic development of the valley, flows here in abundance.
Limbourg also features on the “route des vergers” (the orchard trail) the “route des sources” (the springs trail) and the “route des droits de l’homme” (the human rights trail).
